A small cohort tied to ranching and dryland farming

Wyoming’s certified private-applicator base is concentrated in agricultural plant and animal categories, reflecting the state’s ranching and dryland-farming economy rather than row-crop agriculture. Commercial applicator work leans heavily toward right-of-way vegetation control along Wyoming’s long highway and rail corridors and rural utility lines, a larger share of the commercial cohort than in more urbanized states where structural and ornamental-turf work dominates.

Private applicator: the ranch and farm track

Farmers, ranchers, and their employees applying restricted-use pesticides on land they own or work for an employer’s agricultural production certify as private applicators through the Wyoming Department of Agriculture’s Technical Services Division, Pesticide Program. Commercial and noncommercial applicators

A pesticide business operating in Wyoming must also hold its own state business license, separate from its individual applicators’ certifications.

Reciprocity
